Rachel Coulthard has been covering Westminster for fifteen years. She started in the lobby as a junior at a daily tabloid, moved to a broadsheet for a long stint on the political team, and now writes the Politics desk at Jnews. She is famous in the bar of the press gallery for a dry one-liner and a long memory. She has covered four general elections, three Prime Ministers and one referendum, and once made a Cabinet Minister cry in an interview, which she insists was not her intention. Rachel grew up in Newcastle, studied PPE at Durham, and lives in Bermondsey with two enormous cats named after former Speakers of the House.
